Active Timer is a background activity timer for your Mac that reliably times everything you do; it's the ultimate invoice companion!
It has been designed from the ground up to be the least intrusive background timer possible - just set and forget!
With system wide activity monitoring and a small memory footprint, you should never have to shut down Active Timer.
As a result all time spent in any window on your Mac becomes a running timer in Active Timer, available whenever needed.
Whether you work on 10 projects simultaneously or just one, Active Timer handles it; no setup needed.
Identifying project related timers is a breeze when you give your documents meaningful names and emails informative subjects.
Group relevant timers into projects for easy monitoring – simply drag and drop any timers within the sidebar. A timer can belong to any number of projects.
The list of timers is sorted alphabetically. Rename your applications shown in Active Timer to have them appear together, or to reflect the type of tasks you complete with the application or timer. The new name will be reflected throughout Active Timer.
You can assign color labels to a project to easier identify the timers associated with it. Multiple colored dots will appear whenever a timer is part of several color coded projects.
When you have finished a task you can stop the related timers and give them a meaningful title. To stop a timer simply click the round button shown at the far right of each entry. When you click it the timer freezes and goes into edit mode. Consider giving the timer a name that will make it easier to identify it later when preparing your invoice.
For example you can rename FaceTime to "Video conference with Steve", or Skype to "Feature discussion with Bill".
Active Timer can automatically detect when you are idle. This is useful for work in the real world when you complete some task away from the computer. You might attend a meeting or be on the phone with a client; as long as your computer stays awake, Active Timer will monitor your idle time so you can manage it afterwards.
When returning to your computer, you can freeze the Idle timer and rename it to "Morning meeting" or "Phone call with client". The date when the timer was frozen is conveniently shown next to the title.
